    Description

A beautiful collectible block of four U.S. postage stamps issued in 1940 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the passing of the 13th amendment to the U.S. constitution which declared that neither slavery or indentured servitude would be allowed in the United States.
The stamps feature a portrait of Abraham Lincoln who issued his emancipation proclamation in 1863. No slaves were freed at that time because the confederacy was not in control of the United States federal government.
These stamps have never been used and are as fresh as they were the day they were first sold at the post office over 80 years ago! Suitable for framing, they would make a great gift for anyone who is interested in Black history or U.S. history.
Look in my other auctions for blocks of U.S. stamps of historical significance including additional blocks devoted to Black Heritage!
All stamps are Mint Never Hinged.
